Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT Pen) Treatments
Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT) or otherwise know as Microneedling or Dermal-needling, utilizes tiny needles to create micro openings in the top layer of the skin, thus stimulating the lower layers to produce more Collagen and Elastin. How does CIT work on a cellular level?
As the CIT pen stamps into the skin, microscopic punctures in the skin are created. This is a controlled injury to the skin and is perceived by the body as damage. This stimulates the release of growth factors that trigger the production of Collagen and Elastin. Skin responds to this CIT treatment by initiating the healing process which encourages your skin to regenerate.
With the microneedling treatments, the skin is tricked into repairing itself. The process of microneedling skin remodeling can continue to enhance for months after treatment as the skin continues to repair itself. Results are seen within a few days to a week. Skin naturally heals itself every 45 days so by simply adding microneedling stimulation the changes can be accelerated.
What can you expect after Microneedling treatment?
Immediately following treatment the your skin will have some redness, be flushed in appearance similar to moderate sunburn. The patient will also experience skin tightness and mild sensitivity to the treated area. This will diminish greatly a few hours following treatment. Within the next 24 to 36 hours there is little to no evidence of injury to the treated area.
Is Microneedling painful?
The variety of needle cartridges along with the CIT Pen’s ability to gauge the treatment depth allows this to be customized to fit your needs and comfort levels. Application of local anesthetic numbing cream can prevent treatment discomfort. Most people describe it as a mild “scratching” sensation and is very manageable.

Scarring (surgical, thermal, or acne): 6 treatments 3 - 4 weeks apart
Skin Rejuvenation: 3-6 treatments 3 - 4 weeks apart
